March 12, 2022 “2nd Sporty Ride Challenge”

Today, his wife and daughter came along to see what was going on here.

My son, who happened to be visiting home at the time, was in charge of driving us there and back.

Wow, I feel like a VIP.

There were 17 participants in this lesson.
When I checked the reservation status during the week, I was on the waiting list for cancellations,
but maybe there was a cancellation at the last minute?

Recent lessons have been full to capacity,
so with 17 people it looks like we’ll be able to fit in a fair amount of practice.

The following is a complete memo.

Today’s Equipment

It’s suddenly gotten warmer since March began.

The weather forecast predicts a maximum temperature of 19°C.
It’s cold in the mornings, but I’ve prepared an outfit for the daytime.

For pants, I’m wearing my usual Explorer Jeans,
but on top, I’m wearing just one Heattech layer and a short-sleeved polo shirt!

I’ll be riding in mesh for the Clove.

From now on, I’ll be bringing my own knee and shin guards.

There was no doubt about it, as I was sweating slightly even in this outfit.

A turn that doesn’t go well

After warming up and practicing braking,
it’s time to turn, but I can’t do it the way I want to (T_T).

I can’t get it to full lock like I did with the figure eight turn last time.

Ahh, I wonder what’s different.

I’m feeling a bit frustrated, and the morning lesson comes to an end.

During lunch break

Not good at slalom

The slalom was a complete mess.

It was far from what I had imagined.

The instructor stood next to me and watched,
and said that the rear brake was good because I was pressing hard enough for the ABS to kick in.

However, the timing of braking and leaning in seemed different, so he gave me some advice on that.

I think I’ll focus all my energy on the slalom for a while.

Course slalom is fun even if you’re not good at it

Recently, I’ve been able to ride course slalom without going too far off course, even in small turns.

I’m still slow, but I think I’m starting to enjoy it.

After the instructor chased me, he gave me two pieces of advice:
you brake too early, and you don’t slow down enough.

To be honest, I didn’t really understand, so this time I had to ride in front and let him pull me, and then I kind of got it.

Simply put, there’s no contrast.

And so, I finished the lesson having worked up a good sweat.

Thank you again today.

I’m sorry. My daughter…

The course slalom started at about 2:30pm, and my family, who had been watching the races at the circuit and visiting AEON, had just returned to STEC at that time, and my daughter checked it out on her phone… (I’m really sorry, even though I didn’t know.)

But since I had the chance, I checked it out thoroughly.

It’s good to see it objectively.

The body I thought I was moving wasn’t moving at all, and there was no definition.
The small turns I thought I was making were all stuck…

So lame _| ̄|○.

But I understood exactly what the instructor was saying.

I wish STEC would introduce video lessons too.

I’ll use this as a reference to decide my next assignment.

Sweet things taste good after a workout!

These are my STEC lesson notes.
