June 3, 2022.
This day is Friday’s small group (8 people) “2nd Sporty Ride Lesson”.

I want to participate in this small group and master slalom at all costs! .

There seem to be three veterans who have taken the 3rd Technical course.

One of them is a really good rider I saw in a few lessons ago.

The other members are one person who is doing the 2nd for the first time.
The rest of the members today are people with experience in the 2nd course, including myself.

The weather is so good that the expected maximum temperature is 27°C.

The road grip should be great, so don’t be afraid to lean!

Sweating during warm-up exercises^^;

It’s nice to have a small group of people and have a friendly atmosphere.
We chatted while we did some warm-up exercises and got our protectors ready.

It looked like it was going to be hot today, so we put on a protector over just an inner layer.

Then, by the time we took our bikes out of the garage and carried them to the waiting area, we were sweating ^^;.

Brake just before entering a corner

I thought I understood that braking practice was for adjusting speed when entering corners,
but I didn’t understand it well enough.

I often wobble just before stopping, so I was warned,

but then I got some godly advice!

When you try to stop, you lean forward to put your feet on the ground.

And because your upper body is on the handlebars, you lose the freedom to move your bike.

If you pull your upper body back, as you do before entering a corner, you won’t interfere with the movement of the handlebars.

I finally understand the true meaning of this practice.

Until now, I’d been trying to suppress wobbling by gripping my knees,
but now, by simply being conscious of putting a little weight on the rear wheel, I can stop perfectly!

Wow. I had a complete misunderstanding about braking up until now.
With this, I won’t have to be nervous at traffic lights in the city!

Suzuka Circuit Grandstand

A figure-eight pattern possible because of the small number of participants

It’s been a while since I did the figure eight.

It took 30 minutes. I just kept riding.

I couldn’t control the throttle well and couldn’t ride the way I wanted to.
And then I fell over! ^^;

Looking left and right, some people were riding smoothly and others were riding with one hand, everyone was so good.

The instructor said
that my body was not moving properly on the right side, so I couldn’t stop the falling bike.
Try to keep your head above your knee or above your right hand!

For the rest of the time, I just practiced while focusing on my right side!

And here’s some godly advice!
When you step on the rear brake, imagine pressing the rear tire down on the road!

This worked!
Until now, I didn’t know how hard I should press on the rear brake, but with this advice,
I was able to press it firmly and make turns more easily (^^).

Gutaguta “Pylon Slalom”

Pylon slalom.
As expected, I’m a mess^^;.

The instructor gave me very detailed advice,
but unfortunately I can’t do it.

I can do offset slalom without any problems, but…

I wonder where the clue to a solution lies.

The final course was the usual “course slalom”

After getting my spirits up, it was time for the fun “course slalom”.

Which do you prefer, big or small turns?
When the instructor asked,
half of the participants chose small turns!

When I went for a reconnaissance run, it was the most difficult yet!

I told myself that today was the best road condition,
and swept away the fear of tipping over!

At the start of the run, it was super jerky.

I calmed down, checked the course, and gradually increased the pace!

I told myself, “I definitely won’t slip today!”
and pressed hard on the rear brake, and the rear tire bit into it!

I put my body firmly inward,
kept my chin level, and looked ahead, conscious of the road ahead!

Since there were only a few people, we ran repeatedly without having to wait for our turn!

It was hot, and many people were taking breaks,
so I was able to run hard.

The advice this time was,
Since you’re leaning forward on the roundabout turn,
put your body more diagonally backwards!

Wow, small group sizes are great! You can get plenty of practice. It’s worth it.

These are my STEC lesson notes.
